5 Easter Eggs you may have missed in Lake

Lake is the latest title from Gamious is set in 1986. Meredith Weiss is taking a break from her career in the big city to deliver mail in her hometown. How will she experience two weeks in beautiful Providence Oaks, with its iconic lake and quirky community? And what will she do next? It's up to you in this Story Rich Adventure game.

Whilst exploring Providence Oaks, you'll stumble upon a whole host of Easter Eggs and references hidden from popular movies, games and tv shows. Before we jump into what I've found so far, note that this is from the game's demo build, so some may change in the final release, and I'm sure there'll be even more to find come then too!

Ghostbusters is a 1984 supernatural comedy film, including stars such as Bill Murray. It's about a trio of eccentric parapsychologists who start a ghost-catching business in New York City.

Throughout Providence Oaks, you'll find references to this hit movie, from stickers at the car garage to character's clothing, posters in the video rental store and even a playable mini-game called Ghostblasters at the Dinner.

The Flick Shack

The Flick Shack is the go-to shop for all the latest movies and albums when you're visiting Providence Oaks. There are so many references in here that you'll spend ages just walking around the store browsing them all for yourself. You'll find a personal favourite of mine, Back to the Future, along with a whole host of others, including such movies as The Karate Kid, The Terminator, Labyrinth, The Gremlins, to name a few. I found it interesting that not all of them had a cool alternative name, such as The Love Bug and Jaws.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (often shortened to the TMNT or Ninja Turtles) are superhero turtles trained in the ancient art of Ninjitsu. These turtles have featured in a whole host of things such as films, tv shows and comics.

Sadly we found this reference placed seemingly to have fallen out of the bin after being discarded.

SpongeBob SquarePants

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SpongeBob SquarePants (also referred to as SpongeBob) who the star of one of Nickelodeon's most popular shows. This show was not released until the late 1990s, but the reference is so simple that it's a clear nod to the show for the fans who know the characters well.

Main Street's food store

Just like The Flick Shack, there is a massive range of references within here. You'll find the likes of Polaroid, MR T. and The Kool-Aid Man.

Final Thoughts

I was excited to discover so many fun references in this game, which isn't even all of them. There are posters, store names and all sorts of other secrets to discover once you venture to Providence Oaks on your own. Have fun exploring this lakeside town, and make sure to pop into the Dinner to try and beat those high scores on the mini-game.
