Rage in Peace - Game of the Week
My Game of the Week is the incredible Rage in Peace.
Overview
Rage in Peace is a story-driven action adventure with elements of surprise and memorization. Unravel the last day of Timmy's life, as he races against time to get back home and fulfil his sole dream of dying peacefully in his pyjamas, in the warmth of home, in peace, and with no drama.
Story
Rage in Peace tells the story of Timmy, a 27-year-old who dreams of dying asleep in his pyjamas, at home with no drama. The story starts at work when he finds out it's his last day alive, and as such he asks the Grim Reaper if he can help him get home to fulfill his dream. As the story unfolds we learn more about Timmy, his past, his family and why he's so emotionally numb. This is a very story rich game that will keep you asking questions and engrossed throughout.
Gameplay
This is a side-scrolling adventure game wrapped in multiple challenge sequences focusing you to understand and decide the best way to avoid the multitude of different things trying to kill Timmy. You aren't forced forward like some side-scrollers meaning you have the chance to work out whether moving left or right is the best option for the current situation. As the game processes, you'll find the gameplay adjusts to the emotion being felt in the story and makes some aspects so much more challenging and some bits almost too slow.
Don't be scared of dying... a lot!
Unless your something of a mind reader you are not going to complete any of the levels without trying on your first attempt. There are too many hidden hazards it's just not possible. Don't be disheartened either if it's taking a lot of attempts this happens in relation to the emotions in the current part of the story and often you'll be feeling how Timmy is feeling.
Collectibles
For those who like an extra challenge, there are collectibles which add to the difficulty of levels but add more to the story as you learn about a key element in Timmy's life. What's also nice regarding unlocked content not directly seen in the game is the Grim Reapers log file for Timmy in which he writes he's options on how the conversations throughout the game are going.

Final Thoughts
What an incredible experience from start to finish, even though the hard levels, emotional story and frustrations of the challenge. This game left me for hours after just needing some time to relax and take in the whole thing. It's worth every knock back, tough moment and hard time. Everything is solvable and you'll find yourself learning techniques as you go on. Put the time in to try this game and if you can complete it in one sitting it'll add to the emotional tie you feel towards Timmy and his story.
